About The Solon Area Community Foundation
The Solon Area Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building Solon’s future. We are supported 100% by donations. We entertain requests for funding a variety of community projects, with an eye to having a broad impact in the Solon area.
Helping Build Solon Since 1981
The Solon Area Community Foundation (SACF) was established in 1981 to develop and support a wide variety of youth and community projects to benefit the Solon area.
The Foundation annually gives three $750 scholarships to Solon High School seniors as well as a $4,000 Doris Looney Memorial Scholarship (over $47,500 to date).
Contributions are the mainstay of the organization and are welcomed by the Foundation. You may contact any board member at any time for further information or mail your donation to Solon Area Community Foundation, P.O. Box 129, Solon, IA 52333. The easiest and quickest way to make a donation is by using our orange DONATE button on our main menu.
Each gift to the Foundation, regardless of its size, is helpful and important.
In 2017, the foundation began a formal relationship with the Community Foundation of Johnson County, through which a Solon Community Fund will eventually be established, allowing contributors to qualify for the state’s 25% Endow Iowa tax credit.
Individual and corporate donations, as well as contributions from various organizations, provide funds to the Foundation. Estate gifts and individual memorial donations are also a valued source of income. Projects are funded by contributions and interest income generated by investments made by the Foundation. Tax-exempt status has been granted to the Foundation by the Internal Revenue Service, making all contributions tax deductible. To date, contributions and earnings exceed $300,000. The Foundation is always searching for projects of community interest.
