Helping Build Solon Since 1981

Solon Area Community Foundation

The Solon Area Community Foundation (SACF) was established in 1981 with the goal of supporting youth and community projects that benefit the Solon area. For over 40 years, we have been helping to build and enrich Solon through our charitable work.

Some examples of how we give back:

  • We provide three $750 college scholarships annually to graduating Solon High School seniors, as well as a $4,000 Doris Looney Memorial Scholarship. To date, we have awarded over $47,500 in scholarships.
  • Contributions from generous donors are the main source of our funding. We welcome donations of any size to help further our mission. You can donate through our website’s orange DONATE button or contact any board member.
  • We began a formal partnership with the Community Foundation of Johnson County in 2017 to establish a Solon Community Fund. This allows contributors to receive a 25% state tax credit through Endow Iowa.
  • We have funded projects totaling over $300,000 to date thanks to individual and corporate donations, estate gifts, memorial contributions, and investment income. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, donations to SACF are tax-deductible.
  • We are always looking for new community-focused projects to support in Solon. If you know of a worthwhile cause, please let us know!

For over 40 years, the Solon Area Community Foundation has been helping make Solon a better place to live, work, and grow. Join us by making a contribution so we can continue funding impactful projects for years to come. Together, we can keep building a strong, vibrant Solon community.
